I designed this logo, entitled ‘X’, in 2018 and secured the trademark under Valera, an entity I started with the multi-faceted goal of developing an ethical, sustainable, and innovative approach to manufacturing, fulfilling, and upcycling apparel that challenges fast fashion.

But our mission is not merely defined by a logo.

As Twitter transitions to X after going live with the “interim” 𝕏 symbol, I’ve put considerable thought into the prospect of putting my branding brainchild up for adoption to become the leading identity of X to help shape the future of digital interactions.

The four quadrilaterals located at the center of the mark represent the core aspects of the platform that make it such a profound digital town square. The interlocking quadrilaterals represent Spaces and Communities while paying homage to the functions of blockchain technology.

Each individual diamond interconnects with one another to exemplify the philosophy that, fundamentally, both people and blocks of data are independently complex, yet necessitate collaboration to progress.

The structure of the intersecting legs of the mark echoes the immutable volatility of markets and user engagement. Much like the graphs that visualize constant ascents and descents, the legs of the mark symbolize the certainty of change within data dynamics.

Paradoxically, while the very nature of volatility is change, its presence in our data-driven world is a constant we can rely on, making it immutable in its own way.

The atlas of the mark constructs the letters “Ai” to represent the algorithms attributed to powering profound experiences on X.

A noteworthy feature of this design element is the dual-headed character of the “i” in “Ai” which subtly alludes to the interconnected relationship between humans and artificial intelligence. This two-headed structure defines AI as an extension of oneself, akin to a second brain. It subtly underscores the utility of AI to enhance our productivity and efficiency as a collective society.

The mirrored arrows formed by the legs located on either side of the mark represent interactions on X.

As arrows are an indicator of direction and movement, these elements symbolize the back-and-forth nature of constructive discussions, sending and receiving digital assets, the sharing of ideas, and the overall nature of X as a platform that is active and engaged.

The upward and downward-facing arrows incorporated in the mark embody a key component of X's platform: the ability for users to express their opinions, particularly through polls.

Representing the nature of public sentiment, these arrows capture the essence of the diverse viewpoints not just within X's community, but within our human network.
